On Wednesday, April 12, the first construction works will begin, preceding the modernization of the viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska over Bajońska and Paryska streets.

In the lane dividing the roadways of al. In the United States, lacings will be built, i.e. crossings from one carriageway to another, and temporary bus stops. The works will be completed in the first half of May.
One of the detour roads during the reconstruction of the viaducts will be Trasa Siekierkowska. An additional lane will be created there at the exit from the route to ul. Wał Miedzeszyński towards the center.
A quieter and greener route Modernization means the construction of two new road viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska over ul. Bajonska and Paris. It is also to reduce road noise in the area of al. United States. Therefore, on the section from ul. Bajońska to ul. Acoustic screens will be built on the International Street, and the road surface will be replaced with a quiet one.
Thanks to the new lighting and changes in signage, the road will become safer. In addition, along al. United States, over 70 trees will be planted, which, together with the trees already growing, will form double-sided rows. Nearly 15,000 will appear. additional shrubs, numerous perennials, vines and lawns.
One lane less in al. United States
In the first stage, the modernization will require the closure of the viaduct located on the northern side. It is scheduled to close in a few weeks. Two-way traffic for individual vehicles will then be introduced on the southern carriageway of al. of the United States from the area of the Exhibition Canal to the area of the viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska over Wał Miedzeszyński.
Buses will not change their routes. During the modernization of the first of the viaducts – excluding the period necessary to replace the surface – they will continue to travel towards the center along the northern road until the Saska stop. Then they will go to the south side and the viaduct located there.
Places where individual vehicles and buses will pass through the lane separating the carriageways of al. of the United States are ties. Their construction will start on April 12 and will end in the first half of May. Rebels will be built in four locations: in the area of the Exhibition Canal, ul. International, ul. Saska and in the area of the viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska over ul. Wał Miedzeszyński. Two temporary bus stops will also be built during this time.
Works related to the construction of lacings and stops require the closure of fragments of the left traffic lanes on both roadways of al. United States – from the area of the Exhibition Canal to the viaducts over Wał Miedzeszyński. The shutdowns will start on Wednesday, April 12, will be introduced successively as the works progress, and will end in the first half of May. One lane for general traffic and a bus lane will be available on each roadway in the area of the works.
Swap Łazienkowska for Siekierkowska
During the modernization of the viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska over ul. Trasa Siekierkowska will be the main detour route between Bajońska and Paris. In order to make it easier for drivers leaving Trasa Siekierkowska to join traffic on ul. Wał Miedzeszyński, along the roadway of Wał Miedzeszyński towards the centre, an additional lane will be built.
Its construction requires the temporary closure of one lane of the Wał Miedzeszyński road towards the city center in the area of the exit from Trasa Siekierkowska. The shutdowns will be introduced outside peak traffic hours and will start following April 24.
The need for modernization
Viaducts over ul. Paryska and Bajońska were built as part of Trasa Łazienkowska and have been used since 1974. Due to their poor technical condition, they require reconstruction.
The works will also include the reconstruction of the water supply, gas, electricity and telecommunications networks. There will be modern street lighting and a new road drainage system.
The general contractor for construction works is WARBUD. Their cost is approx. PLN 88.7 million. The contract with the contractor was concluded on December 13, 2022 and provides for the implementation of the investment within 30 months, of which the first four months are the time to prepare for the commencement of construction works.
Modernization of viaducts over ul. Paryska and Bajońska is the next stage of the reconstruction of Trasa Łazienkowska. So far, the Łazienkowski bridge, flyovers at junctions with Wisłostrada and Wał Miedzeszyński, and the viaduct at Przyczółek Grochowski have been renovated. By March 2024, the reconstruction of two viaducts of Trasa Łazienkowska at the Agrykola Park will be completed.
The estimated total value of the investment is PLN 106,483,428.84. The investment received co-financing from the state budget in the amount of PLN 101,159,257.40 under the Polish Government Fund: Program of Strategic Investments.
