The renewal of the highway between Riešė and Molėtai may cost 170 million. euros | Business

The representative of the company, Jolita Orentaitė, informed that this nearly 43-kilometer-long, not-yet-renovated section is divided into five separate sections in order to achieve higher quality and faster project implementation.

Now that the design works of the two sections from Nemenčinėlė to Dasionii turn have been completed, “Via Lietuva” is preparing to initiate the public procurement of the contract.

It is planned to install “2+1” traffic lanes in part of the section under discussion, separated by a fence, and it is also planned to build underground animal crossings and sound barriers.

The cost of the renovation of the entire 42.8-kilometer section will be clear after the completion of public procurement procedures, but according to Via Lietuva’s preliminary calculation, it could exceed 170 million. euros.

“Whether the reconstruction works of these sections will be started will depend on the funding allocated to the road infrastructure, that is, whether the funding required for the renovation of this road will be included in next year’s Road Development and Maintenance Program (KPPP) budget,” J. Orentaitė said to LRT.

The Minister of Transport, Marius Skuodis, said earlier that the design of the Riešė-Molėtai section of the highway should be completed in the second quarter of this year, immediately after which tenders for the contract will be announced.
