The release date for the strategy game Company of Heroes 3 has been pushed back: now Sega and Relic Entertainment have decided to release their project early next year. The release of the strategy has been pushed back to “meet player expectations” and make Company of Heroes 3 one of the deepest tactical experiences in Relic’s history.
The developer added that he needs “some additional time to work on general improvement, balancing and tweaking the gameplay.” The game was originally supposed to be released on November 17, but the latest trailer was received very poorly by gamers, so the release did not take place in the fall.
Additionally, the release delay is due to Relic asking players to sign up for a dedicated community platform system that helps the team implement actionable changes as quickly as possible.
Some of these changes include improvements to the dynamic campaign map, as well as an overhaul to the supply chain, more aggressive AI, and fast travel through airports. In addition, more attention is now paid to visualization and other details during battles.
“We want to release the biggest and most exciting game in the history of our franchise, which means we need more time to fix bugs, balance and polish to ensure our players have a fantastic experience at launch.” — explained Justin Dowdswell, General Manager of Relic Entertainment.
Relic is pretty blunt regarding the reasons for the delay: the game isn’t ready yet. Therefore, fans are invited to take part in the development of the game on forums Company of Heroes and in Discord channels. The team is also still “revising and improving” the dialogue to ensure that the voice acting is “authentic to the specific characters and their native accents in the game”.
Company of Heroes 3 will now release on February 23, 2023, roughly four months away. The developer emphasized that you should not expect any new features, modes, factions or characters to be added.
