With the release of Final Fantasy XVI fast approaching, some fans already have their eyes on the next game from the license. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, sequel to FF7 Remake released in 2020, is due to arrive on an as yet unknown date. But precisely, Square Enix might well reveal this date very quickly. Explanations.
FF7 Rebirth is on the right track
Almost a year following the release of the first trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix has finally shared news of this title. As a reminder, FF7 Rebirth follows Final Fantasy VII Remake released in 2020. The seventh opus of the famous license is entitled to a total overhaul and a new cut. FFVII Rebirth will be the second part, while a third and final opus should follow in the years to come.
For the moment, the Japanese studio seems to be concentrating on Final Fantasy XVI which comes at the end of the month. June 22 to be more precise. Square Enix has shared plenty of gameplay footage and cutscenes to keep fans salivating. But the sequel is FF7 Rebirth which is planned for this year, except for a change in the program. And precisely, we should have news very soon.
A release date revealed this month?
A year since we had any news from Rebirth, but Square Enix has just shared a concise press release to reassure the community. Yoshinori Kitase, producer of this opus, explains that the development “is going quietly”, while a release date should be fixed soon.
The development is going smoothly and according to our forecasts. We are now working on setting a release date for the game.
With the video game announcement season just getting started, can we expect a reveal as soon as Summer Game Fest kicks off on June 8? As said before, Square Enix is betting above all on FF16 which will be released soon. It would therefore probably be safer to wait for the publication of this title before revealing the release date of Rebirth. Case to follow!
