Justice had condemned the State to pay 15 million CFA francs to each family. However, the parents of the victims are still waiting to be compensated.

The appeal trial in the case of the 13 young people who died in the Chacona police station in the Mpila district in the sixth arrondissement of Brazzaville Talangaï, on the night of July 22 to 23, 2018 opened on October 1, 2019. After several postponements, the Brazzaville Court of Appeal finally delivered its verdict on November 17, 2020 and according to the judgment pronounced, each family was to receive compensation of fifteen (15) million CFA francs. More than a year following this deliberation, unfortunately no sum has yet been paid to the families of the victims, although payment was to be made within three months of the judgment. “Really, it’s sad. I’m sorry. The parents did not receive any franc for the reparation of the immeasurable damage they suffered, ”said Me Steve Bagne, lawyer for the civil party interviewed by rfi. A situation also deplored by Casimir Ngakala, one of the leaders of the Parents’ Collective police station victims from Chacona, which speaks of a lack of will on the part of the managers of the public treasury.
