KOMPAS.com – Musician Anang Hermansyah asked his old friend musician Ahmad Dhani about his relationship with the band Slank.
Anang asked about Ahmad Dhani’s actual relationship with Slank personnel.
“But are you actually really close to Slank?” Anang asked Ahmad Dhani as quoted from the NGOBROL ASIX YouTube channel, Friday (22/9/2023).

Ahmad Dhani then answered that his relationship with Slank was actually normal, not strained but not intense either.
“Very close or not,” answered Ahmad Dhani.
Anang then asked again about the friendship that Ahmad Dhani had with Slank.
“But have you developed a friendship (with Slank)?” Anang asked again.

Hearing Anang’s question, Ahmad Dhani said that he had no personal problems with Slank personnel.
“Yes, not even enemies,” said Ahmad Dhani.
After that, Anang touched on Ahmad Dhani’s opinion that he was distant from Slank.
One of them was when a fight broke out between musician Bebi Romeo and bands that were also born in Potlot Alley, which is Slank’s headquarters.

“When did the Bebi Romeo incident happen? “We were both there, that’s where it started, don’t you remember Romeo’s aunt fighting with Potlot’s friends?” said Anang reminded him.
Ahmad Dhani then said that his relationship might only be strained with the Potlot gang bands, but not with Slank.
Ahmad Dhani said that his relationship with Slank frontmen, namely Kaka and Bimbim, was still good personally.
“Actually, I didn’t fight with Slank, maybe I fought with Slank’s gang, but with Kaka and Bimbim, I never fought,” explained Ahmad Dhani.
It is known that the perception of Ahmad Dhani’s tenuous relationship with Slank is often discussed among music lovers.
Many say the rift started with competition between Dewa 19 and Slank, both of which grew up in the same era and each attracted huge fans.
However, both Slank and Dewa 19 have said that this is just the dynamics of the music scene, nothing more than that. And their respective relationships are mediocre.

Meanwhile, Bebi Romeo is said to have clashed with bands that grew up in Potlot. However, the chronology of this event is still gray.
It is known that in the early 90s, Potlot alley in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta became a gathering place for many young musicians.
Apart from Slank, the Potlot gang gave birth to many well-known bands in Indonesia, especially rock ones, including Anang Hermansyah himself who formed a band called Kidnap Katrina.
Among them; The Flowers, Kidnap Katrina, Oppie Andaresta, Andy Liany, Imanez, and Plastik.
