The La Villa des Prés-Mignons association celebrated its first anniversary this Saturday, February 3, 2024. The ten residents of the neighborhood present, however, did not blow out the candle to celebrate the first milestone of the association which is rehabilitating the old building abandoned in Bellejouanne since 1984.

However, a stack of pancakes made it possible to have a snack at midday. The rest of the anniversary day focused on the construction site within the house. After a year and a half of reflection, the residents took over the place to concretely launch this crazy project. The project started in January, with one session every two weeks.

Three trailer rides to dispose of glass waste

For each meeting, there are up to 20 active in the old building. The bulk of the work consists of emptying the villa of its waste. “We already filled a skip at the beginning of January, and there are still some left”, notes Gilles Tillet, president of the association. For good reason, the floor of the villa is littered with numerous rubble. Cyrielle Potin, in charge of the works commission, launches a hypothesis on the origin of the waste. “The villa has been walled up several times. This rubble is the residue of these wallings. »

There are also a lot of wood residues. Several floors have collapsed over time. “We also collected hundreds of glass bottles that were stored in the cellar”, observe the volunteers. It took three trailer turns to get rid of the glass waste.

Emptying the villa is therefore no easy task. Especially since the building is still very dangerous. At the same time, residents are working to secure it, particularly the central staircase. Several scraps of wood were offered to enable the reinforcement of the staircase and certain floors.

More than 100 members

This cleaning will allow volunteers to better view the structure of the building. This is essential data to determine the procedure to follow on this site. “We will take our time, warns Gilles Tillet. The year 2024 will be essential for finding partnerships with professionals to help us carry out the project. »

Significant fundraising work will also need to be carried out. Which does not scare the 104 members of the association. “There are only positives in this project”, they observe. As proof, suspicions of the presence of rot in the building have been dismissed. Only the presence of bats could be noted. Something to amuse the locals: “We have roommates!” »
