The presence of high pressure between the nearby Atlantic and southern Europe is keeping the heat muggy in much of Italy, although less intense than in recent days. The Italian Weather Center, however, is also reporting residual instability for today. In the morning, good weather across much of the country, except for a few clouds passing over the Triveneto, lower Calabria and western Piedmont with occasional showers over the latter. In the afternoon, thunderstorms forming along the Apennines with phenomena partially extending to the Foggia area, inland areas of Campania, Lazio and close to the coastal areas of Abruzzo. Showers and thunderstorms are also expected over the eastern Alps and locally on the reliefs of Sicily. A general improvement is expected in the evening, except for residual temperatures in the Triveneto area. Temperatures are generally slightly down, with peaks not exceeding 34-36 C in the inland areas of central-southern Italy, but the heat will be very muggy due to high humidity levels.
