The referee was kicked out of the UFC 305 tournament without mercy! What was the reason?

At the UFC 305 gala in Perth, Australia, there were some interesting, but also controversial moments. One of them was the scoring of the match between Tai Tuivasa and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. One of the judges was immediately dismissed after a questionable scoring!

End? Israel Adesanya reacts to painful loss to Du Plessis

After the Rozenstruik vs. Tuivasa heavyweight bout went to a mysterious 30-27 score for Tai Tuivasa, referee Howie Booth was immediately removed from his position as scorer for the main prelim between Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg. While Rozenstruik still claimed victory in a bout he largely dominated over three rounds, Booth somehow scored every round in Tuivasa’s favor, resulting in a bizarre Split Decision.

There were more than a few curious looks after the results were announced: referee Charlie Keech awarded the score 29-28 to Rozenstruik and David Lethaby 30-27 for Rozenstruik, giving the Surinamese native the win. According to media ratings on the MMA Decisions website, everyone decided 30-27 in favor of Rozenstruik.

The inexcusable result apparently did not sit well with the Perth Combat Sports Commission, so Booth was completely relieved of his duties for the evening. Referee Ben Cartlidge was chosen to replace Booth in the main pre-match between Kara-France and Erceg, although it ultimately did not matter as Kara-France knocked out Erceg in the first round.
