The reconstruction of the bridge started a little earlier: first, the preparatory stage of the bridge reconstruction was carried out, and the second stage – the physical renovation of the bridge – is starting today.
September 26-27 detour signs will be installed at the approaches to the bridge, and on September 30 it is planned to start carrying out works on the part of electronic communications, that is, on the left side, near the bridge, to start carrying out closed drilling works under the river.
The traffic on the bridge over Nevėžis will be closed on October 3, so during the works, the traffic will be diverted via the Vilainiai bridge repaired last year and the Kėdainiai southern bypass bridge, also known as Pelėdnagii bridge.
During the reconstruction of the bridge over Nevėžis, a new overlay will be installed, lateral and intermediate supports will be reconstructed, a water collection and drainage system will be installed, waterproofing will be installed, a new asphalt surface will be laid, barriers, railings and lighting will be installed.
UAB “Kauno keliai”, the winner of the “Via Lietuva” public works tender, will carry out the reconstruction works of the bridge over Nevėžis, the value of the contract is 3.7 million. EUR with VAT.
The bridge located on Tilto Street in Kėdainiai is probably one of the bridges in the worst condition in Lithuania. Traffic on the bridge has been restricted for some time. The restrictions have been further tightened following the damage to the side beam of the bridge that occurred last year.
In recent years, the municipality of Kėdainiai district has paid considerable attention to the management of bridges located on roads of state importance – last year the Vilainiai bridge was reconstructed, this year the maintenance of the bridge over Barupė was started, and a contract was signed for the design of the bridge over Šušvė located on the road Mantviliškis-Azytėnai-Vosyliškis.
