Books – Muhammad Shaban:
Yesterday, Saturday evening, “Malik” finished preparing her school bag and uniform in preparation for a new school year that she hopes will bring success and excellence to students in the preparatory stage. The girl fell asleep without knowing that it was the last night of what awaits her inside her school in the morning.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, female students flocked to Al-Mutamadiya Preparatory School for girls, some of whom were accompanied by their parents. Malak smiled with joy at meeting her friends with the start of the New Year’s marathon, to precede the tragic end that was waiting for her.
In the middle of the school day, the bell rang, marking the recess period. The students left the classroom for a quick rest before completing the first day of school.
A few minutes later, the “recess” ended, and the bell rang once more for the students to head to their classes, and the middle school tragedy began, which topped the search engines during the past few hours.
While the female students were ascending to their classrooms, they pushed on the stairs leading to the upper floor, which led to a partial collapse of the concrete fence of the stairs.
Outside, the hearts of parents were in a state of intense fear and panic, especially with the continuous arrival of ambulances to transport the injured who were lying on the floor of the upper floor – specifically under the rubble of the collapsed part – at a time when the police imposed a security cordon around the Mihrab of Al-Alam.
In the background, a fearful mother ran out screaming, “My daughter is my daughter at school,” while female students rushed to call their parents, “The school is falling on us,” from the horror of the scene.
The Public Prosecution formed an investigation team that went to the school to inspect it and question its principal, the floor supervisor, the day supervisor, and its security and maintenance officials, and questioning officials in the Educational Buildings Authority, the head of Kerdasa neighborhood, and other witnesses who might be questioned.
Frequent stories transmitted by the people, waiting for the concerned authorities to resolve the matter. The Ministry of Education issued a press statement, revealing that there were seven injuries, whose condition is stable – according to it – before security and medical sources indicated that the number had reached 16, one of whom was in critical condition, a girl named Malak Muhammad Muhammad.
Superior medical care for the injured students, whose injuries ranged from fractures and sporadic bruises to the body and loss of consciousness, with the exception of Malak, who was admitted to the intensive care unit because her condition was unstable.
As the sun set, a team from the Public Prosecution Office left the school before the Ministry of Health announced a registration or death. An official medical source said in statements to Masrawy that the student arrived at Imbaba Hospital in a difficult condition, and her diagnosis at the time was “respiratory failure and blood pooling in the brain”, and she died.
Investigations are being completed, and the Public Prosecution will announce their details when they are completed and to determine how and why the accident occurred.
