The recently asphalted, but already uneven, asphalt of the ring near the station in Vilnius will be treated | Business

As Arūnas Visockas, Senior Advisor of the Infrastructure Group of the Vilnius City Municipality, told LRT radio on Sunday, as the weather warms up, the street should be repaired within a few weeks.

“We can see that the weather is getting hotter. We will turn to specialists who will offer us other ways due to the changing climate”, – A Visockas to LRT radio.

“We have our obligations and we will definitely come back and correct those deficiencies that have arisen,” Zigmantas Perveneckas, the representative of Eurovia Lietuva, the company that laid the asphalt, told LRT radio.

According to him, the unevenness on the road may have been caused by the fact that traffic resumed on the street too quickly. This intersection is heavily used by public transport and passenger cars.

“After completing the asphalt laying work, you should wait a long enough time, at least 24 hours, maybe even more during the summer,” he said.

“Such conditions cannot be ensured. I think that neither the municipality nor we can guarantee. (…) We might not stop the public transport traffic, no one might do it,” he said.

Z. Perveneckas assured that the company asphalted the road in accordance with the usual regulated rules, and when renovating it, the public transport traffic should be adjusted.

“We will have to adapt special construction products and probably need to adjust the public transport traffic a bit – without making a big intervention, but we shouldn’t repeat the same mistake,” he said.

At that time, A. Visockas said that a quality control sample of the new asphalt was not taken on that street.

The intersection near the railway station was renovated in May, but in early July, residents of Vilnius published photos of irregularities and potholes left by traffic on the new asphalt.
