In this regard, Dr. Muhammad Al-Manisi, Professor of Gastroenterology and Endocrinology at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, said that hypothyroidism is a disease that worsens in the winter.
Al-Manisi explained that thyroid hormones are responsible for warming the body and supplying it with energy and vitality in cold weather, so patients with inactivity deficiency feel cold in winter more than others.

The professor of endocrinology added that hypothermia is not the only symptom that worsens in the winter in patients with hypothyroidism, explaining that there are symptoms that also become severe, including:

Tips for patients with hypothyroidism in the winter
He stressed that the only way to avoid an increase in the symptoms of hypothyroidism in winter is the patient’s commitment to taking medications on time, without prejudice to the doses prescribed by the doctor, to compensate for the lack of hormones.

In addition to taking medications, patients with hypothyroidism must follow a set of guidelines in the winter, which were specified by the “Very wellhealth” website in the following tips:
