– «This is a stark reality here. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the Wild West.”
They drive out Palestinians, sometimes they also shoot, but since October 7th they have felt the main threat: a visit to Israeli settlers in the West Bank, who are making a solution to the Middle East conflict more difficult.

Alice Zeeman is in a hurry. She puts on her coat and looks down at the material in mock surprise: “This green, that’s Hamas green.” Then she laughs, takes the child by the hand, grabs the portable speaker and gets into her small car. She drives to the intersection. The wide overland road leads past the settlement of Shavei Shomron, where Zeeman lives: Road 60 winds from Nazareth via Nablus through the hills in the north down to the south of the West Bank to Hebron. Road 60 is a lifeline for the approximately half a million Jewish settlers and the almost three million Palestinians in the West Bank. The settler Alice Zeeman now wants to cut off this vein. Not for Jews. For the Palestinians.
