The Real Casino de Madrid delivers its bullfighting awards at a gala dinner

The Real Casino de Madrid celebrated the delivery of its Extraordinary Bullfighting awards at a gala dinner. With the aim of recovering as soon as possible the awards with which the ‘casinist’ institution has rewarded the most outstanding figures of the San Isidro Fair for 25 editions, and which were affected by the cancellations of the bullfights due to the pandemic , the Casino jury decided its Bullfighting awards Real Casino de Madrid decided to reward the most relevant of the 2021 season.

These were the winners: Morante de la Puebla, as the most relevant figure; Emilio de Justo, best job; Ginés Marín, task to remember; the 64 farmers of the Community of Madrid, special mention; Fernando Adrián, winner of the Chenel Cup; Isaac Fonseca, best novillero; José Luis Carabias, to the professional career; the Community of Madrid, for its institutional support for bullfighting; Fundación del Toro de Lidia, to promote the Festival, and Telemadrid, to spread bullfighting.

The trophy consisted of a bronze sculpture, a replica of ‘El Torito’, by the French artist Isidore Bonheur.

The president of the Real Casino de Madrid, Rafael Orbe Corsini, highlighted the “unconditional support” of the Madrid institution for bullfighting, recalling that “it has been more than 25 years of support for a deep-rooted cultural expression that is fully linked to our identity, our history and our values. In the same way, Orbe Corsini expressed his “satisfaction for having recovered the prizes with more vigor than ever to continue with a tradition valued by the partners, loved by the world of bullfighting and recognized by Madrid society.”

The evening, which took place in the Royal Hall, was attended by more than two hundred guests, including prominent figures from the bullfighting scene, as well as businessmen, ranchers and fans of the art of Cúchares.

The jury for this edition was made up of Rafael Orbe Corsini (as president), Antonio García González (secretary), Gerardo Seco Ródenas, Juan Francisco Hermida Gutiérrez, Francisco Carpintero López, Ángel González Jurado, Francisco Jiménez Martínez, Ignacio García Govantes, Rafael Saiz Friar, Ismael Fernández de la Carrera, Mr. José González Jiménez, Miguel Berruezo Hernández and Lorenzo Simón López (as members).

In previous editions, bullfighters such as Antonio Ferrera, in 2019; Alejandro Talavante, in 2018 and 2013; Ginés Marín, in 2017; Paco Ureña, in 2016; Sebastián Castella, in 2015 and 2007; Miguel Ángel Perera, in 2014; José María Manzanares, in 2011; Manuel Jesús ‘El Cid’, in 2008, 2006 and 2005; Matías Tejela, in 2004; The Caliph, in 2003 and 2000; Enrique Ponce, in 2002; Rafael de Julia, in 2001; José Tomás, in 1999 and 1997; Eugenio de Mora, in 1998; Víctor Puerto, in 1996 and César Rincón, in 1995.
