America’s response
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in his own statement that the elections were subject to extraordinary restrictions on freedom of expression.

“We call on the relevant authorities to ensure a timely and thorough investigation of all reported electoral irregularities and to implement the recommendations of the EU Election Expert Mission report in the future,” he said.

US Congressman Ilhan Omar has expressed concern regarding the general elections in Pakistan, saying that the legitimacy of the new government depends on fair elections free from fraud.

He said that the people of Pakistan deserve a transparent democratic process and a government that truly represents them.

He called on the US State Department not to recognize Pakistan’s election results until there is an independent investigation into allegations of maladministration.

Iran’s response
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran also congratulated the people and the government on the successful holding of general elections in Pakistan.

The spokesperson says that the election shows the stability of democracy in the country.

He expressed good wishes from the government and people of Pakistan’s friend, neighbor and brother country for the completion of the election process, formation of new parliament and government and prosperity in the country.
