A man was arrested overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Mouscron for attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, the prosecution said. The assailant was caught in the act.
The facts took place shortly before 5 a.m. in a house on the Chaussée du Risquons-Tout in Mouscron. The man had entered in the middle of the night in the house of his former companion, from whom he had been living apart for a while. The woman then called the police.
When the police arrived, the victim was lying on the ground and his ex-companion was strangling him with his bare hands. “The rapid intervention of the police was decisive“, pointed out the deputy public prosecutor of the Tournai-Mons district. “Arrested in the act of murder, the man was deprived of liberty. He is a 30-year-old man from Mouscron. The file was put to the instruction Sunday and the individual will be heard Monday by an examining magistrate“, specifies the substitute.
The victim’s life is not in danger. Aged just under 30, she will soon be examined by a medical examiner appointed by the prosecution.
