The Ramatuelle festival brings together a five-star program from today until August 12

Isabelle Adjani, Patrick Bruel, François-Xavier Demaison, Alex Vizorek, Calogero or even Francis Perrin… From today until August 12, the Ramatuelle festival invites the public and artists to meet in its open-air amphitheater , with an eclectic program, both popular and demanding, which constitutes its DNA.

Living art celebrated in all its forms. A charming setting, with its amphitheater planted in the middle of olive trees, and a furious desire to share the love of culture, these have been the ingredients of the Ramatuelle festival for 38 years. Under the leadership of its president Jacqueline Franjou, it brings together once more this summer, a stone’s throw from Saint-Tropez, the best of the French scene with the ambition “to offer spectators diverse and varied proposals”, she underlines .

The festival of all possibilities

An eclecticism that has been the soul of this festival since its creation in 1985 by Jean-Claude Brialy and Jacqueline Franjou, moreover preceded like each season by the “Classic Nights”, from July 27 to 29. An appointment this year with a new artistic director, Jean-Michel Dhuez, who will offer three shows performed by lyrical artists. Among them : “Josephine BakerParis mon amour”, devoted to the life of the artist and Franco-American resistance fighter, who entered the pantheon last November.

A diversity of styles that Michel Boujenah, artistic director of the Ramatuelle festival since 2007, also takes very seriously. “Eclecticism is not just anything. It is not enough to take this and this and then it works”, he underlines on the festival website. “No, we must also keep a requirement on talent, on quality, on the love of the public. That’s the beauty”. It is in this spirit that, this year once more, he imagined alongside Jacqueline Franjou, the 38e edition of the Ramatuelle festival, which will bring together “humor, comedy, classic theater”, notes for its part its president.

Headliners and favorites

A high-flying program that will open from 1is August with a tribute to Michael Bouquet, sacred monster of the boards who died last April, and an acoustic concert in complete privacy by Patrick Bruel – a “faithful”, notes Jaqueline Franjou. The next day, make way for humor with François-Xavier Demaison, who will perform his latest show “Di(x) vin(s)”, a wine and humorous stroll through his memories.

Another essential artist of the comic scene, Alex Vizorek will also be there on August 4 with “Ad vitam”, his new one man, ten years following “Alex Vizorek is a work of art”. Protean artist, Eric Antoine, both magician and humorist, will unveil a “Best of” specially designed for the festival (the 8th).

On the theater side, comedy, classic plays but also contemporary texts will punctuate this edition which will notably welcome one of the most emblematic stars of French cinema. “It’s an honor to receive Isabelle Adjani”, underlines Jacqueline Franjou, while the actress will give “Le Vertige Marilyn” on August 6th. A monologue written for her by Olivier Steiner, in which he mirrors the thoughts of Marilyn Monroeaccording to his last interview, and that of the unforgettable interpreter of Queen Margot.

In a lighter register, the sparkling Victoria Abril will find Lionnel Astier in “Drôle de genre” (5), a comedy unveiled in Paris last January. For his part, Michel Leeb will once once more share the poster with Anne Jacquemin in “Inavouable” (9). Other highlights and favorites of the festival: Béatrice Agenin will once once more slip into the skin of George Sand and her governess Marie Caillaud in “Marie des poules”, Molière for best show in 2020, which also won her the Molière de la best actress (7). Stéphane Hillel and Nicolas Briançon will resume “Jacques and his master” (3) and Sarah Biasini will find the universe of Agatha Christie in “An unexpected visitor” (11), alongside Emmanuelle Galabru.

He is a lover of Molierewhich this year is celebrating the 400e birthday, but also a lover of the festival where he has already played nearly 20 times. Francis Perrin will thus interpret “L’école des femmes”, a play that the actor will play with his family, “like in the time of Molière”, specifies Jacqueline Franjou, since he will give the reply to his wife, his daughter and his son (on 10 ).

Finally, the music will resound once more at the end of the festival. Calogero and his communicative energy will bring this 38e edition, the first without any health restrictions for two years.

The cultural summer continues in Ramatuelle

But the festivities won’t stop there in Ramatuelle this summer. Always with a view to celebrating culture in the broadest sense, the 7th art will also have its hour of glory since Jacqueline Franjou will offer “Les toiles de Ramatuelle” from August 13 to 15: an open-air cinema set up on the beach in Tahiti. The opportunity to discover three films in preview – “The Green Shutters” by Jean Becker with Gérard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant and Benoît Poelvoorde, “The Tasting” by Ivan Calbérac with Isabelle Carré and Bernard Campan, and “Maestro” by Bruno Chiche with Yvan Attal, Pierre Arditi and Miou-Miou – from his deckchair with his feet in the sand.

Reading will also be in the spotlight on the 4th and 11th at the Café de l’Ormeau, which will bring together Romain Sardou, Abd Al Malik and even Sarah Biasini for literary teas. So many appointments that fit in one and the same direction according to Jacqueline Franjou: “Culture is essential and there should be no barriers”.
