The radio went off: Flaviano Díaz, the town’s narrator, passed away

Asuncion, IP Agency.-A great communicator, possibly the greatest exponent of radio sports commentary in the interior of the country: Flaviano Diaz passed away this morning.

This great figure, representative of inland journalism, worked in the most powerful radio stations in the interior and also successfully ventured into the capital’s media, even becoming director of Radio Nacional del Paraguay, where he rose as a teenager to the consideration of the public who immediately accepted him, alongside the teacher Ovidio Javier Talavera, being one of his most outstanding students, alongside the unforgettable Carlos Alberto Gómez.

In the seventies, Flaviano formed an exceptional duo with another giant of Paraguayan communication, the great Fernando Cazenave, leading a great team of communicators in conjunction with the newspaper LA TRIBUNA for the emblematic Radio Caaguazú in Coronel Oviedo and a network headed by Radio Asunción, which, along with the largest media outlets in Asunción, covered national soccer and soccer from anywhere in the world. It was an unrepeatable event that a radio station from the interior headed a national sports network.

Flaviano recently worked as a journalist at Radio Itapiru and media outlets in the east of the country, until recently, due to ailments related to a chronic illness, he was referred to the San Jorge Hospital in Asunción, where his death was recorded.

With the passing of a giant of inland communication, rightly described as “the people’s narrator,” life goes on and the radio will charge new batteries and turn on again. But the unmistakable and vibrant voice of Flaviano Díaz will no longer resound with the emotion and passion of his unique narrative because today, the radio has been turned off. La Tribuna.
