The Lakers might still be very active in the coming days, with the trade deadline fast approaching. But the competition won’t let them do it either… A franchise from the East will notably give them a battle over a star on the market.
12th in the Western Conference (19 wins for 22 losses), the Lakers are however only two wins from the Top 6. Suffice to say that everything is still to play for the men of Darvin Ham and as such, the addition of a big player on the roster before the transfer deadline might be the electric shock they need. We say that Russell Westbrook is no longer available, but there’s no telling that City of Angels leaders will stick with that talk until February 9.
Among the main targets of the 2020 champion, we find in particular Zach LaVine who has been on their radar for months. Originally from California, the guard will be a reinforcement of choice from the Bulls. But if there is no guarantee that the Bulls will be ready to let go of their star in Los Angeles, we should not forget to count the other franchises in the ranks to acquire it. The Heat are one of their biggest opponents on this issue, according to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype :
Miami is closely monitoring the Zach LaVine case
The Miami Heat are ‘certainly monitoring’ Zach LaVine’s availability, per @MikeAScotto

The Miami Heat are “very clearly monitoring” Zach LaVine’s availability.

Like the Purples and Golds, Miami does not have a lot of assets to convince the Bulls to give it to them. But it is true that a doublet composed of him and Jimmy Butler (himself a former Chi-Town player) might be very interesting, South Beach wishing to fight for the title following reaching the conference finals last year. But on the side of the fans of Illinois, it is a real consensus which reigns on the subject:
cmon dude, there is no way the bulls would trade him to the heat….
the amount of embarrassment the franchise would feel if the Heat had both Jimmy & Zach….. ????????????
like be serious please.

There’s no way the Bulls will trade him to the Heat…The level of shame the franchise would feel if the Heat had both Jimmy Butler and Zach…Be serious for a second
They ain’t trading Lavine man. This a fake rumor

They’re not going to trade LaVine man. It’s a false rumor
Zach LaVine is going to be one of the hottest files in the NBA between now and the trade deadline, with several big names in the ranks to get him back. It remains to be seen who will be the lucky one among the Lakers, the Heat or another franchise… if he leaves the Bulls of course.
