The race at Silverstone now live

3:38 p.m

Even more celebrities

3:28 p.m

Everyone on the starting lineup

No incidents, all 20 drivers (on slicks) made it onto the grid. By the way, we now also have a picture of Tom Cruise, who just paid a visit to Mercedes.

That fits quite well, because a victory from P5 borders on a “mission impossible” for Hamilton today – at least in the dry…

3:22 p.m

Slicks

It’s trickling, but the drivers start on the grid with slicks. If the rain doesn’t get heavier then we’ll see a dry tire start here. But let’s see, the pit lane is open until 3:30 p.m.

3:11 p.m

Regen

That’s how fast it can go at Silverstone. It’s actually raining now! Let’s see if it rains properly now or if it stays with a few drops. Then it would dry off once more before the start. Of course we keep an eye on it!

3:07 p.m

Vettel in the video

In the meantime we also got a small video of the Vettel demo in the 92 Williams. Must see!

3:00 p.m

weather update

One hour to go and it’s still dry at Silverstone. Doesn’t look like rain at the moment. Then it slowly gets into the hot phase, in 20 minutes the pit lane will open. You know the game.

More celebs

As promised, we looked around once more and discovered more celebrities in the paddock. By the way, actor Tom Cruise is also there, but unfortunately we don’t have a photo of him yet. From these ladies and gentlemen:

2:48 p.m

150th start for Sainz

The Spaniard is not only starting from pole for the first time today, he is also contesting his 150th Formula 1 race. Now one or the other may be wondering why Verstappen is already driving his 151st race, even though both made their debuts at the same time.

The answer: In 2020 in Belgium, Sainz’ McLaren gave up before the start, so he missed this race in the official statistics. That’s why his anniversary is a race to Verstappen.

2:41 p.m

special helmet

This weekend I was critical of pilots using a special helmet too often. But this thing is really great! Today’s Vettel helmet was designed by his children.

A very special birthday present for the father of two. Now we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it might still work out with points today!

2:33 p.m

Fans love Lando

Not only Hamilton is well received by the home fans, clear Norris chants might also be heard at the drivers’ parade. The McLaren driver clearly enjoys it and explains that he has no idea why he is so popular.

“I only drive a racing car,” he laughs. The fact is: The future of British Formula 1 should be in good hands even following Hamilton’s career has ended!

2:19 p.m

Park Farm

Also today some parts were exchanged in the Parc Ferme. This is legal if the components are identical in construction. Really exciting things are not included this time, but here is an overview for everyone interested:

More Vettel impressions

Here are more impressions of the Vettel demo ride. What we also see there next to the old Williams: It is still dry at Silverstone.
