The RACC wants to lay off 69 medical service workers

BarcelonaThe RACC has begun a process of collective redundancies in the medical service that affects 69 of the 80 employees who work there (71 according to the staff) and that will involve the remodeling of the department. The assembly of workers that has been formed for the negotiation process has indicated in a statement, however, that the firm plans to close the service.

The management of the RACC has assured in statements to the ACN that the remodeling will focus on giving more benefits to the partner, who in no case will lose this service. He has admitted that he will leave the business sector. The workers, for their part, have assured that the company has informed them that, as a result of the loss of part of the corporate clients, the continuity of the service is unfeasible. Workers have lamented the news and said it is one of the most valued services.

On February 4, the first meeting of the negotiating table between the company and workers to negotiate the ERO took place. The employees presented a first counter-proposal to the company, which reduced the number of management staff to a staff of 19.7 full-time and that of supervisors from 5 people to 3. The workers did not propose changes in the medical staff because “it is already below the needs of the service” and claim that the company rejected this approach.

Employees also warn that since the beginning of the pandemic, the workforce of the medical service has been reduced by more than 35%, from 104 to 71 workers, a figure that the company has increased to 80. The negotiations will continue on Thursday.

According to the company, the medical service answered 46,081 calls for medical assistance during the summer, with an average of 500 daily calls, and coordinated 20,000 services and 1,500 transfers and repatriations for health reasons.
