The quotas of disagreement –

The Federation of Professional Education Unions (FESYPE) denounced, in a statement on Thursday, the quotas issued by the ministerial authority, which were the basis for the reopening of the entrance exam to the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS), organized on July 7 and 8 at the single center of the Lycée National Léon Mba. For the future, FESYPE calls for the revision of the distribution grid of said quotas for greater fairness.

The least we can say is that these quotas are causing heated controversy in union circles, particularly at the level of FESYPE, which is judging them. “unfair and disconnected from reality”castigated the Federation of Professional Education Unions.

For FESYPE, the quotas set for each sector do not reflect the real needs of the education sector. It is therefore unacceptable in its eyes that such restrictive quotas are applied when the country is seriously lacking teachers in certain key disciplines.

However, FESYPE welcomes the reopening of the ENS competition after ten years of freezing, both in the education sector and in many other sectors of the country.

By examining these quotas, FESYPE also notes inequalities between the younger generations of teachers who have recently joined and the older ones who have sometimes accumulated up to 20 years of experience, are lagging far behind in their career progression and who should normally have benefited from more positions, FESYPE regrets.

“Those who entered national education 5 years ago are competing with us who have about 20 years of experience. Try to imagine the delay in our careers, that is why we cannot be satisfied with the quotas that have been applied.” fumed Sothène-Trèd Mba Eyeguezor, Secretary General of FESYPE, before calling “to the intervention and clemency of the President of the Republic so that the current quota grid is revised. There are certain sectors where there have only been 3 places, even though 10 or even 50 places would be far from meeting current demand”he argued.

In consideration of these findings, FESYPE calls on the competent authorities to urgently review the quotas for future competitions, similar to what was done for the entrance exams to ENAM and INJS, in order to better meet the needs of the national education system.

The union warns that without a review of these quotas, the teacher crisis could worsen, with harmful consequences for the entire school system.
