The queue for the Steam Deck has finally dissipated and the console can be bought at any time – and a docking station has also been released for it

Valve has announced that the queue for the purchase of the Steam Deck portable console has ceased to exist – now the device can simply be bought at any time. In addition, the company has finally released a docking station for the console, which turns it into a stationary gaming system.

Valve notes that a year has passed since the announcement of Steam Deck and all this time the company has been struggling with supply chain problems and a shortage of components. That is why a booking system with a queue was organized – this is how it turned out to defeat resellers with scripts and bots.

It is also noted that now the pace of production and shipment of Steam Deck is the highest since the release of the console. The company even surpassed its own estimates in terms of delivery speed and has processed all applications in the queue by now. Initially, she planned to deal with the queue only during the current quarter. But in the end, Valve already has to sell consoles without sending customers to the queue – right now, anyone can place an order and the console will be sent in the very near future. Of course, if these consoles are sent to your country at all, which does not apply to Russia.

However, Valve notes that if there are more orders for a particular version of Steam Deck than it can be sent in a timely manner, then delivery times will increase. Perhaps the booking system will also return, for the duration of the execution of all orders in the queue. The system will be exactly the same as it was before.

In addition, Valve has released an official docking station for the Steam Deck. In addition to acting as a stand, it gives the console three USB Type-A 3.1 Gen1 ports, a USB Type-C connector for power, DisplayPort and HDMI video outputs, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. As the manufacturer notes, the provided docking station is the perfect way to connect the Steam Deck to a power source, to one or a pair of monitors, as well as to a host of other peripherals. The cost of the docking station is 99 euros.
