Quebecer Félix Lengyel, better known as xQc, made Forbes’ “Top Creators 2022” list, a list of the most popular influencers of the year. But, the streamer is not satisfied with the description that was written for his file.
It is in 12th position that finds xQc, the Twitch streamer and former professional player ofOverwatch. The description given by Forbes is not sweet, however, reminding readers of the streamer’s behavior deemed racist and homophobic.
“Felix Lengyel was the most-watched streamer in 2020 and 2021. Despite controversies involving racist, homophobic and sexually explicit content, Lengyel garnered 11 million followers on Twitch,” can we read on the Forbes website.
A shocking record
This description of his career did not sit well with xQc, who spoke during a Twitch broadcast from September 6according Dexerto. Quoted by the specialized media, xQc said: “Racist, homophobic and sexually explicit content? Gang, this is dishonest, how might it be worse?
He adds: “It’s really bad. When have I made explicit, racist and homophobic content? These things did not happen. None of those things happened. That’s not true,” he said in a clipvisibly surprised.
Well-documented behaviors
However, the streamer’s behavior deemed racist and homophobic is well documented. In 2018, xQc was suspended and then released from his teamOverwatch following having used an emote in a manner deemed racist towards the host Malik Forté. Lengyel had denied racist use of the emote, explaining that he was a good friend of Forté.
In January 2018, the player made remarks deemed homophobic at the start of the season towards Austin “Muma” Wilmot. He was then suspended for four professional games.
“It is unacceptable for members of the Overwatch League to post or share hateful, racist or discriminatory images or messages. It’s important that they understand the impact their messages can have on others,” said said the Overwatch League in its press release as a result of Lengyel’s behavior.
Regarding content deemed sexually explicit, Forbes may be referring to the temporary ban from xQc by Twitchfollowing a female character stripped naked during a game. The streamer attempted to switch windows during the broadcast, but Twitch presumably didn’t give her a chance.
xQc is the only Quebec creator to be on the Forbes list of “Top Creators 2022“. He joins popular influencers such as MrBeast, Charli D’Amelio, Alexandra Cooper and Jake Paul.
