MINISTER of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo said that Indonesian basketball athletes are currently experiencing rapid development along with the development of the sport in the country.
“I think our local players have developed very rapidly and are very good in terms of how they play and their tricks,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports as reported by Antara, Monday (23/9).
According to Dito, the development of Indonesian basketball players cannot be separated from the coaching of PP Perbasi, and is also influenced by the new rules in the IBL competition regarding foreign and local players.
“This will certainly increase the standardization of the abilities of our local players,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The Minister of Youth and Sports also appreciated the existence of a national basketball competition specifically for local players called IBL All Indonesian 2024, which is considered an important event for young Indonesian players to prove their abilities in the professional arena.
The participating clubs also used this tournament to prepare their squads for the 2025 IBL competition season.

IBL President Director, Junas Miradiarsyah, also expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Youth and Sports for the support given to the development of basketball in Indonesia.
“Thank you to the Minister of Youth and Sports who always supports Indonesian basketball in general and IBL in particular,” said Junas.
Furthermore, Junas said that in addition to competing to become champions, participating clubs also used this event as evaluation material to improve team performance ahead of the upcoming competition season.
“In addition to competing to become champions, participating clubs also see this event as an evaluation for them to prepare more thoroughly for the upcoming competition season,” he added.
The preparation of the participating clubs has been done well, including trading players, contracting new players, and including rookies in their roster. These steps were taken in response to the evaluation of the shortcomings they faced last season. (Z-6)
