Executive DIRECTOR of the Synergy BUMN Institute Achmad Yunus emphasized that the capital injection for PT Wijaya Karya (Wika) of IDR 6 trillion must have a clear designation. Don’t let the additional state capital participation (PMN) be used to pay Wika’s debt.

As is known, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, officially signed the Republic of Indonesia government regulation (PP) Number 15 of 2024 concerning the addition of RI capital to the share capital of the company PT Wijaya Karya TBK.

“This must be clear regarding projects that receive funding from PMN. However, there is a provision that PMN is not allowed to pay debts, that needs to be reviewed once more,” said Yunus to Media Indonesia, Monday (1/4).

He is of the view that the PMN provided must be able to pay the short-term obligations of the Wika project so that financial problems can be resolved. Wika is also required to be transparent in budgeting the allocation of funds in a project. Such as the construction of the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, East Kalimantan.

“For this IKN project, the budgeting must be clear and what is an assignment or not an assignment. Don’t be ambitious regarding building IKN, BUMN must be forced because it affects the BUMN’s financial performance,” he said.

Yunus said that if Wika is burdened with working on strategic government projects that are not feasible or feasible, then the management of state funds in the form of PMN to state-owned companies needs to be closely monitored.

Confirmed separately, PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) Corporate Secretary Mahendra Vijaya explained that PMN amounting to IDR 6 trillion would be used to strengthen the capital structure, especially working capital for national strategic projects (PSN).

From Wika’s previous records, the PMN submitted in 2023 was used to complete the construction of four projects at IKN and 37 PSN until 2025.

“This PMN is for the completion of national strategic projects. Of the total number of projects, most are targeted for completion this year,” he explained.

Mahendra then emphasized that the Rp. 6 trillion PMN funds were not used to finance Wika’s previous debts.

“No (for debt). The PMN is entirely for working capital,” he concluded. (Ins/7)
