The Publica pension fund improves its net return to 4.4% in 2021

In 2021, the Federal Pension Fund Publica achieved a net overall return of 4.4%, compared to 4.2% the previous year. It has gained financial stability.

The investment strategy for the open pension funds generated an overall net return of 4.6% (4.2% in 2020), while the result for the closed pension funds is 2.1% (3.9 %). The real estate sector and the stock market also reaped strong gains. Most bonds posted negative returns due to rising rates.

Publica is committed to achieving net zero emissions in its portfolio by 2050.

Eighteen provident funds were affiliated with Publica. The clientele of the open funds is made up of active insured persons and pensioners. That of the closed funds account, it, exclusively of the beneficiaries of annuities. Publica pursues a different investment strategy for each.

Publica brings together nearly 66,000 policyholders and 42,000 pensioners. With a balance sheet total currently amounting to CHF 44 billion, it is one of the largest Swiss pension funds.
