The Prosecutor’s Office separated the case against Crispi from the Living Democracy case – La Discusión 2024-03-03 18:42:32

The Prosecutor’s Office decided to separate the case once morest the second-tier advisor Miguel Crispi – in addition to former minister Giorgio Jackson and the head of the Dipres, Javiera Martínez – from the other sides of the Living Democracy case.

As reported by Radio Cooperativa, this decision comes just in the week in which Crispi will return to his position following the holidays, and in which a statement from those involved with the prosecutor Cristián Aguilar is expected.

One of the complainants, deputy Cristián Araya, stated that “it is difficult to understand the motivation of the Prosecutor’s Office to separate the investigative lines. There are so many edges that have been opened that they make the pursuit and monitoring of each of the investigative lines very difficult.”

“It is the Prosecutor’s Office that has to explain why it made this decision,” he stressed.

Crispi’s defense points out that this decision is due to the fact that this complaint is the only thing that ties the defendants to the case, since there is no relationship with the foundations involved.

Republicans’ complaint is invalidated

Diego Vela, president of the Democratic Revolution, assured that “we cannot base ourselves purely on accusations without precedent that two Republican deputies have presented. Here it is important to point out that distinction, here we are not talking regarding the complaint filed by the State Defense Council, nor the ex officio investigation carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office, but we are precisely talking regarding an action that was carried out, apparently more political, by two Republican deputies. and in that sense we have to be responsible in our actions.”

“We, and the President, have been very clear, if anyone has a responsibility in this regard, they will leave the government, that has been the case at all times,” he added.
