He ordered an urgent preliminary inquiry and specific answers from police officers who are continuing their own investigation. The prosecutor wants to know how many children there are in the condominium, how many of them are under 16 and do not go to school as required by law, and what happens to an 11-month-old baby who lives with them, father unknown.
Earlier the children were removed from the cave but returned to it, as the father of the family confirmed to Alpha. He had told Live News and Nikos Evangeliatos that he does not send them to school because it is far away. In his other statements, he had left sharp points for the state, which, as he says, does not give him the benefits he is entitled to.
It is recalled that the “Old Christians” came under the microscope following a hunter complained regarding an attack on him and the burning of his car. The policemen who visited them for the first time were attacked and there was even an injury. A second operation was required, during which 4 members of the family were taken to a police station. As she clarified: “I don’t live in a cave, I live in a tree house, as it is made of logs, mud and grass.”
Asked how she was led to live there, she explained: “We’ve been looking for years to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The area is private and fenced. Other families live with us, we are a community. There are regarding 10 of us in total.”
Then Manos Kalaitzidakis, Sevastis’ husband, spoke on the show, who mentioned that the family’s children do not go to school, as there is no means to cover the kilometer distance from where they live.
