The prosecutor is asking for 18 years in custody for the man who killed Bård Lanes

This is what the state attorney said during his proceedings in the Agder Court of Appeal on Friday, reports NRK.

– The other three defendants should receive prison terms of between 16 and 18 years.

All four defendants deny criminal guilt. Four men were sentenced last June for the murder of Bård Lanes. A 28-year-old man from Western Norway was sentenced to detention with a minimum term of 18 years, while a 31-year-old man from Tønsberg was sentenced to prison for 18 years.

A 33-year-old man from Tønsberg and a 23-year-old from Brazil were sentenced to prison for 16 years. All appealed the verdict.

Lanes was shot outside a tanning studio at Kilen in Tønsberg at around 22.10 on 20 April 2021. One of the shots hit him in the back and went through a lung and parts of the heart. Lanes himself called the AMK central immediately followingwards and said he had been shot. He died in hospital shortly followingwards.

The police believe that the four men planned to kill Lanes as a result of a long-standing conflict, and that the murder was carried out on behalf of the 31-year-old.

The main defendant, the 28-year-old, is the only one who has pleaded guilty. He admitted in the district court that he killed Lanes, but claimed it was an accident. He said he was going to shoot Lanes in the legs, but missed and hit him in the back.
