Symbol of the “politics of numbers”, the head of the anti-drug office made a series of record seizures in the early 2010s. Intentionality dismissed
As part of a judicial investigation opened in Bordeaux, the police officer is suspected of having “favored” the importation of cannabis by providing incomplete information to the judicial authority on his proximity to the trafficker and the “supervised” operation that he had implemented.
The prosecution ruled out any intentional element, considering that the police officer had never lost sight of the objective of dismantling large-scale trafficking and that possible “failures” might not be assimilated to complicity. He also noted that the reports to the judicial authority, although carried out “at a minimum”, did not contravene the framework in force at the time.
