Karthik talks regarding the first time he met a producer to tell the story of the film. Karthik was talking to Cinema Vikadan.
‘Once I went to see a big producer. He was part of a big production house. It was the first time I approached a producer to tell the story. I had no previous experience. My first film directed by me was Pizza, but before that I had completed the screenplay of Jigarthanda. It was the story of a big feature film that I was going to tell for the first time in my life.
So I met the producer. I started telling my story. I kept telling the story. When I listened to him following a while, I realized that he had fallen asleep following listening to my story. As soon as I saw it, I went completely silent. Darkness started creeping inside me.
Then he opened his eyes and looked at me and told me that I am not sleeping but listening to the story. But I had no interest in telling the rest of the story.
So I told the rest of the story in just one minute. Then he asked if that was all there was to the story. I said that this is how the story is going forward. Then I left him. After that I never saw the producer.
Then once I met CV Kumar sir. He is a man who has heard the story well. He will understand the story and give some suggestions. That’s how later when I directed the movie Pizza, C.V. Kumarsar is coming as the producer,’ says Karthik.
