The polling process for the election of 30 Senate seats is going on. There are 59 candidates in today’s Senate elections, out of which 18 candidates have been elected unopposed. The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued guidelines for the members of the National Assembly in connection with the Senate election.

Earlier, the National Assembly hall was converted into a polling station for the Senate election, ballot papers and election materials were delivered to the National Assembly hall.
Guidelines issued for members of the National Assembly
The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued guidelines for the members of the National Assembly in connection with the Senate election.
The guidelines state that preferences must be recorded on the ballot papers through ballpoint. According to the current guidelines, 1 should be written in front of the name of the preferred candidate.
2 must be written in front of the other candidate. The instructions state that preference should be given in English or Urdu only. In the ongoing guidelines, it has been mentioned that writing Urdu and English together will result in rejection of the vote.
The guidelines further state that if the digit 1 is entered in front of more than one name, the vote will be rejected.
The current guidelines also state that no other digit should be entered in front of the name of a candidate along with digit 1.
Punjab: Election on 5 Senate seats, Voting begins
The voting process has started in the Punjab Assembly for the election of 5 Senate seats in Punjab. Sources have claimed that the ruling alliance is likely to win the seat of women and technocrats for the Senate from Punjab.
The contest between Muslim League-N and Sunni Ittehad Council for 5 Senate seats in Punjab is going on. Polling is taking place on 2 seats for women, 2 for technocrats and 1 for minorities in the Punjab Assembly.
Anusha Rehman of PML-N, Bushra Anjum Butt are candidates for the women’s seat, Sanam Javed of the Sunni Ittehad Council is also a candidate for the women’s seat, while Faiza Malik of the People’s Party has withdrawn from the women’s seat.
PML-N’s Muhammad Aurangzeb and Mossadegh Malik are candidates for the technocrat seat. Dr. Yasmeen Rashid is a candidate for the Technocrat seat on behalf of the Sunni Ittehad Council.
Khalil Tahir Sindhu, candidate of Muslim League-N, Asif Ashiq of Sunni Ittehad Council is the candidate for the minority seat.
According to the instructions of Election Commission, Punjab Assembly has been given the status of polling station. Polling in the Punjab Assembly will continue uninterrupted from 9 am to 4 pm.
It should be noted that candidates have already won unopposed on 7 general seats of Senate in Punjab.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Polling might not start
Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held today or not? The situation in this regard is unclear. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, polling might not start at 9 am as scheduled for the Senate elections.

KPK: Petition to Postpone Senate Elections
