The problems in national athletics do not stop. Now added to the complaints of Poulette Cardoch and Berdine Castillo is that of Viviana Olivares, who accuses of having been removed from the 4×100 post a month before Santiago 2023. Viviana Olivares explained her entire situation on the CHV morning show “Contigo La Mañana.” “I knew I was running this race until September 18. Then we began to meet with the team and that was when they told us that I was not going, that the selection criteria had changed,” the Ovalle native begins.
There she also explained the reasons why she believes she was deleted from the test. “Martina came in for me even though she didn’t have a record in 100 meters, but she did have a super good record in 200 meters and the coach gave me to understand that that was the reason why I wasn’t starting,” she said.
Regarding these changes in criteria, which would be in total disagreement with what was expressed by different authorities regarding the complaints of Cardoch and Castillo, the athlete confessed that she did not receive explanations or details. “When I asked for them, they didn’t give them to me and the brands were not respected, nothing. Unfortunately we just had to accept the coach’s decisions. I talked about it with all the people who know about this and are leaders and I didn’t have a clear answer either,” she concluded.
