During his visit, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation from Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, who reviewed the progress of works on the axis of Lieutenant-General Kamal Amer, and the efforts made to speed up the completion of this important axis as soon as possible, in an effort to reduce the traffic densities in the area He explained that the axis of Lieutenant-General Kamal Amer connects the southern arch of the Ring Road in Munib in the south with the northern arch, and to maximize the benefit of the project, work was done to extend the axis to connect with the axis of “Long live Egypt” in the north with a total length of 15 km and a width of (33 – 65.5) meters, noting that The axis of Lieutenant General Kamal Amer connects the main transverse axes (July 26 – League of Arab States – Saft al-Laban – Faisal – Haram), in addition to the streets (Al-Sadr Hospital – Al-Thalathini – Khatam Al-Morselin – Imbaba Airport).
Major General Mahmoud Nassar, head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, at the Ministry of Housing, pointed out that the project includes the construction of a free axis in two directions, with a width of (3-4 m) a traffic lane in each direction, and the development of surface roads to serve the traffic movement of the people, with a width of (2-3 m) a traffic lane in each direction. And re-planning the area in a civilized manner to serve the people, and also includes the establishment of free intersections to connect with the ring road, and the main traffic axes intersecting with it, adding that work is being done to exploit the available spaces under the bridges that were built in the project in a civilized manner as parks, garages and the necessary services.
Major General Nassar touched on the current executive position of the axis of Lieutenant-General Kamal Amer, which is being implemented by the Central Agency for Reconstruction through the Greater Cairo Reconstruction Agency, explaining that with regard to the distance from the southern arc of the Ring Road in Munib, and up to Haram Street, it has been completed and it remains to complete the house from the ring road. The head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction revealed that the implementation of the project’s work comes in one of the most crowded areas in Greater Cairo, which is full of utility networks and adjacent to the subway and railways, which called for the importance of continuous coordination with the concerned authorities to ensure that facilities are not disrupted during the implementation of the project, in addition to carrying out a large volume transfer. Among the facilities that conflict with the project’s path, whether related to electricity, drinking water, sewage, gas, telephones, and communication networks, as well as the presence of a distance overlapping with the path of the third line of the subway, the necessary coordination has been made to work on it, in addition to providing, improving and paving alternative roads to facilitate Traffic movement in the area during the implementation period of the project, and work to quickly resolve any obstacles facing the implementation of the axis by a number of national companies, in order to shorten the implementation time.
