The 2023 edition of the legendary Rennsport Reunion is currently in full swing on the Laguna Seca circuit in the United States. Inaugurated in 2001, this event celebrates the German manufacturer’s racing heritage by bringing together the rarest models and the most awarded racing Porsches. From the 356 to the 919 LMP1 hybrid, including the 917, 956, 962 and all generations of competition 911s, they all made the trip!
To celebrate the occasion, Porsche has decided to launch a limited series of its 911 GT3 R (a model which, as a reminder, was designed for competition in the FIA GT3 championship), called 911 GT3 R Rennsport. The machine, which has not been approved for use on the road, will only be produced in 77 units and will be sold at just over €900,000 per piece.
Built for the track
This extraordinary Porsche features a 4.2-liter flat-six borrowed from the 911 GT3 R, which here delivers a whopping 620 hp. A mill capable of rotating up to 9,400 rpm! The transmission is entrusted to a six-speed sequential gearbox also derived from the competition model. Shifting gears is done via paddles on the steering wheel. With an empty weight of 1,240 kg, the weight/power ratio is 2 kg/hp!

The model, which will be offered in seven distinct colors when ordered (includingOrange Signal and the Star Ruby), is distinguished from other 911s by a specific body enhanced with various aerodynamic elements and high-tech cameras which replace the mirrors. Highlight of the show: the gigantic rear wing which notably evokes the legendary Porsche 935/77.
Budding drivers will be able to count on dedicated tires, designed by Michelin and which provide exceptional grip, as well as an aluminum braking system equipped with titanium pads. Enough to ensure impressive decelerations, which will allow the driver to push his machine to its limits.
