The price of the dollar fell today in Lebanon in the unofficial (black) parallel market, to be traded this morning, Wednesday, at a price ranging between 35150-35200 Lebanese pounds per dollar.
The exchange rate ranged yesterday evening, Monday, between 35,300 and 35,350 Lebanese pounds per dollar, according to the Lebanese “Northern Ambassador”.
Petrol price hike in Lebanon
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Ministry of Energy and Water in Lebanon issued a new table for the prices of fuels and oil derivatives.
The new prices came as follows, according to the “Lebanon 24” website:
1- Gasoline 95 octane: 634 thousand pounds (an increase of 6 thousand pounds over the previous price)
2- Gasoline 98 octane: 649 thousand pounds (an increase of 6 thousand pounds over the previous price)
3- Diesel (diesel): 785 thousand pounds (an increase of 8 thousand pounds from the previous price)
4- Gas: 344 thousand Lebanese pounds (an increase of 3 thousand pounds from the previous price)
Dollar exchange in Lebanon
The trading volume on the “Sayrafa” platform at the end of last Friday’s trading amounted to 95 million dollars, at a rate of 27,600 Lebanese pounds per dollar, according to the exchange rates of operations carried out by banks and exchange institutions on the platform.
The representative of fuel distributors in Lebanon, Fadi Abu Chakra, said that “the owners of the stations and distributors have recently incurred huge losses due to the new pricing mechanism that has been adopted for fuels.”
He continued, “The differences in the price of the dollar accumulated this loss significantly, especially since the purchase and sale of fuel is affected by market fluctuations greatly, and it leaves a big blow at the stations.”
