The price of gas starts to fall again in view of more favorable weather forecasts

European gas prices started to fall once more on Monday, thanks to milder weather forecasts.

Last week, prices soared, increasing by 40%, in response to the cold snap freezing the continent but also to the violent escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

On Monday, natural gas became up to 6% cheaper. A megawatt hour of gas for delivery in November costs 51 euros on the Dutch futures market, which is the benchmark.

Milder temperatures are forecast across much of Europe over the coming days. The efforts of the United States to try to prevent the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from deepening further have also reassured the markets.
