Gold prices in the global stock exchange

Global gold prices witnessed a negative start to trading this week, following a significant decline last Friday. This comes following the US jobs report last Friday, which supported the rise of the dollar and raised expectations that the US interest rate might remain at its highest levels for a longer period of time.

Spot gold prices fell yesterday, Monday, by 0.4%, to trade at the time of writing the technical report for Gold Billion at $ 1941 an ounce, close to its lowest level in two and a half months, which it recorded last week at $ 1931 an ounce, following falling last Friday by more than 1%.

The negative impact of the US jobs report, which was issued last Friday, on gold continues with the beginning of the week, as 339 thousand jobs were hired compared to expectations, which were at a value of 193 thousand jobs, and the previous reading was at a value of 294 thousand jobs, in addition to this, unemployment rates rose to 3.7% following it was at its lowest level in 53 years at 3.4% last April.

This data contributed to increasing expectations that the US interest rate may stabilize at high levels for a longer period of time, despite the statements of a number of US Federal Reserve members last week, which indicated their agreement with fixing interest rates during the next bank meeting this month.
