The Press Association believes the police withheld communication about the princess wedding: – Breaking the law

In an email exchange between the police and Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett’s manager Carina Scheele Carlsen, it emerged on Thursday that they were skeptical that two media houses were given permission to film with a drone in Geiranger.

The emails were written in June, but were not recorded until mid-August. The Press Association believes the police have broken the law on record-keeping by waiting so long before the exchanges were recorded.

– The police are breaking the law because they withhold the emails for such a long time. It violates the entire purpose of the legislation, says lawyer Kristine Foss NRK.

The channel writes that the police have sent out postal records all summer, just not the ones about the wedding. High work pressure is the Møre og Romsdal police district’s excuse.

– The police have not tried to keep anything secret. We are dependent on talking to others in the organization to ensure preparedness, confidentiality and security. It’s not that we don’t want to share it, but we have to be confident that what we share is right, says department director Iselin Nevstad Øvrelid in Møre og Romsdal police district.

According to the Civil Ombudsman, record keeping, which is also anchored in the Public Information Act, the Archives Act and the Archives Regulations, must take place as quickly as possible for all public institutions.

Foss therefore believes that the police’s reason is not good enough.

– Such conditions can mean that it can take a few extra days, but it should not take several months, she says to NRK.
