The President of the Republic supervises a ceremony honoring the winners of the Presidential Award for Preservation and Understanding of Prohibited Texts

Ashraf His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El GhazouaniThis morning, Tuesday, at the International Convention Center in Nouakchott, a ceremony honoring the winners of the third edition of the competition Prize of the President of the Republic for memorizing and understanding forbidden texts.

The first place in this competition was won by Ahmed Muhammad Al-Amin Bab, and Abdul-Salam Muhammad Mahmoud Saeed came in the second place, and in the third place came Abdul-Rahman Muhammadan Musa Saadan, while the fourth place was won by Muhammad Muhammad Mahmoud Abh, and the fifth place was won by Sheikh Muhammad bin Muhammadan Musa.

His Excellency the President of the Republic handed over to the first winner his prize amounting to five million old ounces, and the second winner received his prize amounting to four million old ounces by His Excellency the Prime Minister, while His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education handed to the third winner his prize amounting to three million old ounces, and the winner received The fourth was his prize, which amounted to two million ounces, by the Secretary-General of the Association of Mauritanian Scholars, and the head of the House of the Noble Qur’an handed over to the fifth winner his prize, which amounted to one million ancient ounces.

This award, which was launched under the instructions of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazwani, during the Cabinet meeting held on September 16, 2020, aims to encourage and support Mahdhra students for uniqueness and excellence, preserve the country’s specificity and distinction in the field of Mahdari education, and ensure the sustainability of the Mahdhra curriculum Students of Al-Mahdara in memorizing and teaching texts, and restoring the cultural brilliance and civilizational radiation of our country, which is mainly caused by immersing ourselves in the legal and linguistic sciences.

The topics of this annual competition, which takes place coinciding with the month of the Prophet’s birthday, include all forbidden sciences in their major texts taught in the major shrines in the country, which include the Holy Qur’an and its sciences, jurisprudence and its origins, grammar, hadith and its sciences, the Prophet’s biography, the Arabic language, logic and statement.

In a speech on the occasion, the Secretary-General of the Association of Mauritanian Scholars, Sheikh Ould Saleh, explained the great importance of this competition, which reminds of our country’s bright past in spreading Islamic and Arab culture.

He highly valued the President of the Republic’s sponsorship of this competition, which restored its splendor to our lecturers and encouraged its students to achieve academic achievement in various fields of forensic sciences.

He recalled the distinguished role played by Mauritanian scholars, sheikhs, and students over time, as they were guided guides, calling to God with wisdom and good preaching.

In their interventions during the ceremony, the winners expressed their sincere thanks to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazwani, for approving this competition, which constituted the greatest support for our Mahdari education, and for instilling a culture of positive competition among his students.

The honoring ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, the President of the Constitutional Council, the leader of the Democratic Opposition Foundation, the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, the two Ministers Advisers of the Presidency of the Republic, members of the government, the Wali of Western Nouakchott, the President of the Nouakchott region, the Mayor of the municipality of Tafrag Zina, and some Military and security leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, a number of sheikhs and men of thought and culture.
