The missile attack launched by Iran against Israel between September 30 and October 1 “taught a lesson” to the Jewish state about the strength and capabilities of the Axis of Resistance, the regional armed groups under Tehran’s umbrella. The president of Syria declared it today, Bashar al-Assadduring his meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqhchiand the accompanying delegation.

On the occasion, Assad underlined the importance of strategic relations between Syria and Iran “in addressing the challenges and dangers that weigh on the region and its peoples, first of all the continued Israeli occupation of Arab lands and its daily perpetration of crimes of killing and destruction against civilians in Lebanon, Palestine and Syria”. During the meeting, the Syrian president added that “resistance against all forms of occupation, aggression and mass killings is a legitimate right.” According to Assad, “Iranian retaliation to the violations and repeated attacks of the Israeli entity against the peoples of the region and the sovereignty of its countries was a strong response.”

Furthermore, the Iranian attack “gave a lesson to this Zionist entity (Israel) that the Axis of Resistance is capable of deterring the enemy and thwarting its plans, and will remain strong and steadfast through will and solidarity of its peoples,” added the Syrian president. During their meeting, as reported by the Syrian news agency “Sana”, Assad and Araqhchi discussed “ways to stop Israeli aggression on brotherly Lebanon and the importance of providing support and assistance to the Lebanese brothers in light of great displacement caused by Israeli aggression”.
