The President of Guinea-Bissau on an official visit to Togo

Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the President of Guinea-Bissau arrived in Togo this Tuesday at the end of the morning of July 12, 2022.

On a one-day working visit, he was welcomed by Faure Gnassingbé, the Togolese President at Niamtougou International Airport in northern Togo.

The two Heads of State then went to Kara, the city of origin of the Togolese Head of State where the traditional Evala festivals are currently taking place.

Faure Gnassingbé usually stays in Kara every year on the occasion of these festivals.

According to a press release from the Presidency of the Togolese Republic, the two leaders should have “a face-to-face meeting, during which diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries will be discussed”.

They should also discuss “the situation in the West African region and issues related to strengthening integration within the community space,” the statement said.

Umaro Sissoco Embaló was elected, on July 3 in Accra, President of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

It was on the occasion of the 61st ordinary session of the ECOWAS Heads of State meeting.
