Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi recalls that terrorists are still present and very active. ” We are fully aware that complete victory is still a long way off. Our troops are still fighting right now on the island of Matemo, because the terrorists are trying to infiltrate there. But it costs us dearly, because of the very nature of this terrorist threat. They are invisible and highly motivated, due to the external funding and support they receive, which reinforces their actions in our country. »
Faced with this situation, the Head of State calls on the international community to come to their aid. “ We renew our appeal to the international community to continue to support the efforts of Mozambique, and the forces of our friends, Rwanda and SADC, in this fight, in order to be able to eradicate this terrorist phenomenon which affects our country and concerns all southern Africa. »
