The premises where the Venezuelan opposition leader stayed in Táchira were raided

CARACAS, Venezuela.— According to an article in Mariana Dukepublished by The Diary of the Andrews On his website, the president of the El Amparo Foundation and director of the International Committee Against Impunity in Venezuela (CICIVEN), Walter Márquez, offered a press conference yesterday Tuesday in which he reported that the house where the Venezuelan opposition leader, María Corina Machado, stayed during her visit to Táchira, in the town of Palmira, Guásimos municipality, was assaulted on July 4 by hooded men carrying long weapons.

Walter Márquez said one of the guards was gagged and beaten, while another was threatened with death.

“They made a whole device to try to find some evidence that would compromise opposition sectors and they carried a jerry can of gasoline, asking regarding the truck that she used on her trip from Palmira to the fifth avenue of San Cristóbal, in order to set it on fire. They gagged one of the guards, beat him, threatened the others with death, and took away all their communication equipment,” added Márquez.

He also pointed out that, a week before the arrival of María Corina Machado to the entity, a wave of persecutions once morest political leaders began, which was reaffirmed on the night of June 26 with the closure of food establishments belonging to opposition leaders. – (With information from Mariana Duke).
