The Val-d’Oise prefecture has implemented a policy of transparency in terms of health control for two years. To encourage greater responsibility, it broadcasts on its networks images of health checks carried out in restaurants, bakeries or supermarkets, as well as the names of establishments administratively closed.
1,600 inspections in 2024
These publications were so popular that they began to be reproduced by other departments, such as Seine-Saint-Denis. A public health issue, according to Philippe Court, prefect of Val-d’Oise, who recalls that people have been hospitalized following food poisoning. Businesses, he indicates, now communicate via networks and influence each other, which encourages good practices.
Controls are expected to intensify next year, with 1,600 inspections already announced. Without mentioning names, the prefect announced that “all the stores of a big name that makes hamburgers” and “all those of a big name that makes fried chicken” would be part of the establishments controlled.
