Daniel Ricciardo’s return to the Formula 1 grid might represent the beginning of the end for Sergio Pérez’s stint as a Red Bull Racing driver.
This was considered by the renowned journalist Ted Kravitz on the Sky Sports podcast following announcing that the Australian will replace Nyck de Vries in AlphaTauri.
“(Ricciardo’s return) makes Sergio Pérez review the terms of his contract to see if he has any gaps, as Nyck de Vries’s obviously had with Red Bull,” the reporter also mentioned.
“If (Ricciardo) does amazing (with AlphaTauri), then Checo will be quite worried,” he added.
NOT EVEN THE SPONSORS COULD SAVE CHECO PÉREZ BEFORE A POSSIBLE DISMISSAL FROM RED BULL
And it is that, according to Kravitz, if Ricciardo begins to have a good performance with the sister team of Red Bull Racing, the seat of the Guadalajara will be in serious danger even despite all that it represents in terms of sponsorship and marketing.
“Although Checo attracts many sponsors and marketing opportunities by selling Red Bull memorabilia to Mexican fans, he might well be concerned if Red Bull decides to bet on Ricciardo if he turns out to be the man to turn the tables on AlphaTauri.” Ted Kravitz noted.
SUPPORT BY CHRISTIAN HORNER FOR DANIEL RICCIARDO IN THE RETURN OF THE AUSTRALIAN TO THE GRILL OF FORMULA 1
Daniel Ricciardo was received with emotional words by Christian Horner, head of Red Bull Racing.
“It’s great to see that Daniel hasn’t lost form while he’s been away from racing and that the progress he’s been making in his simulator sessions translates onto the track,” said the Austrian boss.
“His times during the tire test were extremely competitive. It was a very impressive drive and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds for Daniel on loan to Scuderia AlphaTauri,” added Horner.
And it is that the sensation of social networks will not have more time to waste, since his first race with AlphaTauri will be on July 16 at the 2023 Hungarian GP.
