After many, many, months, the time has finally arrived to announce the position of DIPETHE Patras! The artistic helm of the Municipal Theater has been left without a governor for a long time following the departure of Loukas Thanos, while the situation became worse due to the elections which set the process back quite a bit.
To the questions of when the announcement of the position would be made, the answer was when the new Board of Directors is appointed and finally, following many months, this moment has arrived, according to information from pelop.gr.
Today, during meeting of the Board of Directors of DIPETHE Patrasit was decided the announcement of the position. The participation applications they can be sent to the headquarters of DIPETHE until Friday, April 26while the term of the Artistic Director will be two years, with the possibility of extension for one year following a decision of the Board of Directors.
According to the announcement, in addition to the monthly amount that will be given as a salary, the DIPETHE Patras can also commission the Artistic Director to direct or translate or write a play per year, up to a net amount of 8,000 euros.
The Artistic Director can be hired regardless of holding a title of a specific educational level, excluding the HR educational level. For this position, a person of recognized prestige who has particularly distinguished himself in the field of theater or who has dealt with theater issues professionally and who has one of the following qualities will be selected:
1. Director, actor primarily or composer, choreographer, set designer, costume designer, with a recognized contribution to the professional theater.
2. Playwright, translator of works, dramatist theater critic with professional work in the theater.
3. To have at least 10 years of professional experience in the organization and management of theater productions.
4. To have management experience or cooperation with DIPETHE and to have experience in teaching the art of acting, teaching or management experience in a Drama School.
5. To have administrative and organizational skills that can be certified by attending relevant studies or seminars or by previous service in another administrative position of an artistic organization.
Proposal for a two-year artistic project
The candidate for the position of Artistic Director, along with the application, is invited to submit a file with his general and specific proposals for K.E.DI.PE.THE. Patras.
Specifically:
1. Proposal for the character and the role to be played by KEDIPE.THE. Patras today, but also for its development in the future, the philosophy of openness to the society of Patras and the Region, its daily presence and offering to the citizen, taking into account the current reality, which audience it will address, with which means and for what purposes.
2. A programming plan (Dramalog, etc.) with a proposal of artistic intentions for the entire two-year term and detailed program for the first theater season.
3. Proposals for the theater that will approach and attract the various social groups, young people, students, students and citizens who have not yet acquired ties with the theater.
4. The candidate KD of K.E.DI.PE.THE. Patras must take into account that the Municipal Theater of APOLLON from October 2023 cannot receive audiences and will not be the main stage of K.E.DI.PE.THE. Patras, because it is in the process of radical renovation for the next two years at least. Therefore, the proposals that will be submitted must be flexible and adapted for a smaller theater stage, in order to ensure the economic viability of the theater.
5. Thoughts on the social work of K.E.DI.PE.THE will be useful. Patras, the cooperation with other, mainly neighboring DIPETHE, the operation of the Drama School, the cooperation with the city’s agencies for the development of theater education.
Selection process
The choice will be made by the Board of DIPETHE of Patras in accordance with the Internal Regulation of Services of the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipal Regional Theater of Patras.
