Lenovo officially unveils its Legion Go portable console following several weeks of leaks.
Difficult to feign surprise, the Lenovo Legion Go has already been the subject of numerous leaks on the web. The portable console has now been made official by the manufacturer at IFA 2023. As expected, this console is following in the footsteps of the Steam Deck and the ROG Ally, but Lenovo has found a few ways to differentiate itself.
A very premium large screen
Forget the 1080p screen of the ROG Ally or the 7-inch 1280 x 800 pixel panel of the Steam Deck, Lenovo has decided to bet very big for the screen of the Legion Go. Here we go to an 8.8-inch IPS LCD screen in 16:10 format with a definition of 2560 x 1600 pixels and the ability to go up to 144 Hz. We hope that this will not be done to the detriment of the autonomy of the machine or its performance.
Under the hood, there is an AMD Ryzen Z1 or Z1 Extreme chip, that is to say like on the ROG Ally, but with a much more greedy screen if you want to run a game in native definition. The chip will be supported by 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB to 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage.
In terms of connectivity, there is a USB-C USB4 port on the top of the machine with a 3.5 mm jack port and a microSD card reader. Below, another USB-C USB4 port is also present. USB4 means these ports also support DisplayPort 1.4 and PowerDelivery 3.0. The console charger is 65W and the battery is 49.2 Wh. To connect to the network, the Legion Go can count on Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
On paper, we are somewhat worried regarding the bulk of the console. Indeed, the Lenovo Legion Go weighs 854 grams with the controllers attached, for a chassis of 299 x 131 x 41 mm. The format is therefore similar to the Steam Deck, but with almost 200 grams more on the scale.
The other originality of the Legion Go is in the controllers offered.
The right joystick is, in fact, capable of becoming a mouse thanks to an optical sensor placed on the underside. In addition, the two controllers are very widely equipped with configurable buttons. If we put aside the classic controls of an Xbox or PlayStation controller, there are 6 additional buttons, a mouse wheel and a touchpad.
Last strong point: the two analogy sticks are hall effect. They should therefore be immune to the stick drift that the Switch suffers from and will eventually suffer from the ROG Ally.

Unsurprisingly, the Legion Go runs on Windows 11, like the ROG Ally. The console is also accompanied by 3 months of subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Availability and prices
The Lenovo Legion Go will be marketed from 799 euros and its launch is scheduled for October 2023. This is exactly the same price as the ROG Ally.
